National Chianti Day was established in 2020 as a way to enjoy this popular Tuscan red wine. Chianti is a wine region in Toscana, and is also the name of the wine produced in this region. Chianti is one of the oldest delineated wine producing regions established in the world, dating back to the early 1700s. To be a Chianti, the wine must must be based on Sangiovese grapes. Experts say they exhibit good levels of acidity and can have substantial tannin, making Chianti a very good and flexible food wine.
