Held in Tuscumbia, Alabama, the Helen Keller Festival pays tribute to the Hellen Keller story. Visitors can enjoy re-enactments, exhibits, tours, food, entertainment, and much more.
Helen Keller was blind and deaf, however, that didn't stop her teacher Anne Sullivan from trying to reach her. After having well water flow over Helen's hand and tapping out an alphabet code for the letters spelling "water," Helen finally associated water with the word Sullivan was teaching her. By nightfall, Helen learned 30 words.
