Adopt a Shelter Pet Day was created to raise awareness for the millions of animals waiting for their forever homes in shelters across the country. Through overpopulation or animal surrender, pets find themselves in area shelters wasting away until they find their next homes. Unfortunately too often pets are euthanized because of over crowding without getting a new lease on life. People can seek out adoption routes before making the decision to buy a new pet.
