Here is a good example of how to think outside of the box.  This billboard, located in Easton, Pa, features a mule kicking the frame.  Create a similar effect in print with Metro Adscape Shaped spec ads.  See ads: https://mcg.metrocreativeconnection.com/publish/newmcc/search.php?view=creative&source=specads&keywords=adscape&imagesize=medium&order=latest

We called it "disruptive advertising" at the Idaho Press-Tribune, wherein we would have an element in the ad run into the editorial copy in some way and the story would wrap around it.  It was highly effective for the advertiser while we were still doing it, but then we just quit.  Not sure why.  Wish I had kept a few examples to show, but that was at least 15 years ago.

It may be time to bring it back.  If you find any examples or create any new "disruptive advertising" ads, please share them here.
