Space Milestone: Vostok 6 First Woman in Space

On June 16, 1963 Valentina Tereshkova became the first women in space when her spacecraft Vostok 6 (USSR) took off. She manually controlled the aircraft during 70.8 hours of flight and 48 orbits of Earth.
