Company: Wicked the Musical
Web site:

National Wicked Day honors one of the longest-running shows to grace the Broadway stage. Wicked premiered on Broadway in October 2003, with an official opening night of October 30th. The show is based upon Gregory Maguire's 1995 novel "Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West." It tells the tale of unlikely friends and classmates Glinda and Elphaba who go on to become Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West. It is essentially a prequel to the story familiarized in "The Wizard of Oz." Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel originated the roles, and the show is still thriving at the Gershwin Theater in NYC.

Fans of the stage show will soon be able to watch their favorite characters on the big screen with the film adaptation coming in November 2024 and starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo.
