Celebrated every year on July 21, National Junk Food Day is an opportunity to indulge a little more on foods that normally don't fit the bill as healthy eating. Junk food was popularized in the 1950s and typically comprises foods high in fats, sugars, salt, and calories. Junk foods tend to offer very little nutritional value as well. While they shouldn't make up a large portion of snacking and eating, junk foods are okay once in a while in moderation — including a cheat day from one's normal diet.
