Since the founding of the ASPCA, horses have been essential to their mission of helping all animals. The first major ASPCA cruelty arrest occurred with a mistreatment of a horse back on April 26, 1866 when ASPCA founder Henry Bergh stopped a cart driver from beating his horse. Since then the protection of horses has been a core component of the ASPCA's mission. On this day anyone can be a voice for horses, who more often than not, are gentle giants.
