National Freethought Day was born out of the Salem Witch Trials in the 1600s and occurs annually on the anniversary of the end of those trials. The observance gives all people the right to their opinions and freethought, and is particularly embraced by secularists and freethinkers, but can apply to just about anyone in this world. It also presents opportunities to base opinions on facts, science, logic, and reason.
