National Animal Shelter and Rescue Appreciation Week occurs during the first full week of November each year. It recognizes the many different shelters that provide a place for abandoned and stray animals to live while they await their forever homes. The day also serves to commend the dedicated and hard-working people without whose efforts the shelters would not be able to stay open and care for the well-being of pets.

Make life better for the pets in the community awaiting adoption by publishing a photograph and bio for a select shelter animal each week. It will help spread the word about pets that are available at nearby shelters.
