June 8th, 2024

Who you gonna call? The Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis-written "Ghostbusters" debuted on this day in 1984. Originally planned as a project for Aykroyd and fellow former Saturday Night Live actor, John Belushi, plans changed when Belushi passed away. It ended up starring Aykroyd, Ramis, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts, Sigourney Weaver, and Rick Moranis. It ended up earning over $280 million in ticket sales, and was the second-highest grossing film of 1984.
