Disneyland opened on July 17, 1955. The $17 million theme park was built on 160 acres of former orange groves in Anaheim, California. Soon after opening it started to welcome thousands upon thousands of visitors and earning record profits. Disneyland now hosts more than 14 million visitors a year, who spend close to $3 billion. Disneyland was so successful that Disney purchased a tract of land in Florida and set up his second mega-park ... Walt Disney World.
