On October 7, 1982 the second-longest running production in Broadway history opened on this day. "Cats" was based by a book written by T.S. Eliot and had a score by Andrew Lloyd Webber. "Cats" followed another of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical "Phantom of the Opera," which is the longest running show on Broadway. The show "Cats" has been produced in 30 other countries. In 2019, "Cats" became a major motion picture as well.
