The Boston Massacre was a key moment in American history. It occurred between British troops and a crowd at Boston, Mass. A mob of American colonists gathered at the Customs House in Boston began taunting the British soldiers guarding the building. The protesters, who called themselves Patriots, were protesting the occupation of their city by British troops. Several colonists were killed in the skirmish, and it became a widely publicized event and contributed to the unpopularity of the British regime in the colonies before the American revolution.
