Mashable launched Social Media Day in 2010 as a way to recognize and celebrate social media's impact on global communication. While every day is essentially social media day, June 30th, 2022 marks the 13th annual official global celebration.
Social media usage is prolific. Pew Research Center indicates Facebook and YouTube dominate this landscape, as notable majorities of U.S. adults use each of these sites. Younger generations have helped give rise to other social media platforms such as Instagram, Snapchat. TikTok and Twitter. Many social media users visit these applications daily, with many others repeatedly checking for updates throughout the day.

Use social media day as an opportunity to focus on your own social media promotion goals, whether sending out updates on articles or events. Use images in your Metro Creative Library to highlight these events on your social media platforms, as well as all other events throughout the year! #smday
