Barbershop Quartet Day commemorates the gathering of 26 persons at Tulsa, OK in 1938 and the founding there of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America. Traditionally a barbershop quartet is a group of four singers who sing music in the barbershop genre of singing, which uses four-part harmony without accompaniment.
