National Pet Cancer Awareness Month helps educate pet parents and find ways to eradicate this terrible disease among companion animals. Each year Nationwide® partners up with the Animal Cancer Foundation™ (ACF) to increase awareness and raise funds to fight the number one disease-related killer of dogs and cats. Here are some statistics to consider:
• Cancer is the No. 1 disease-related cause of death for dogs in the United States.
• One in 5 cats will develop cancer in their lifetimes.
• Cancer accounts for 50% of the deaths in pets over the age of 10.
• Warning signs of pet cancer can include changes in weight or appetite.
By working with veterinarians, pet owners can help keep their pets healthy and catch and treat cancer at its earliest stages.
