This month honors, remembers, recognizes and appreciates all military personnel — those men and women who have served throughout our history. It also honors their families, as well as those Americans who have given their lives in defense of the freedoms we all enjoy today.
May also is American Military History Month. Encourage schools to include military lessons in the curriculum this time of year. Newspapers also can increase the number of feature spotlights on area veterans or service personnel.
