National Cotton Candy Day is a day for people to reconnect with childhood memories of carnivals, fairs, circuses, and other entertaining events. Cotton candy is often available at these events and is frequently a childhood favorite. Cotton candy also can be an interactive treat as it melts on the tongue, virtually disappearing before one's eyes.

Surprisingly, cotton candy was invented by American dentist William Morrison and confectioner John C. Wharton. It premiered as "Fairy Floss" at the 1904 World's Fair to much success. Use this fun fact as a springboard to tie advertising to not only regional carnivals and fairs, but to dentist offices as well!
