A day to commemorate the anniversary of the 1929 ruling that declared women to be persons in Canada. Prior to this ruling, English common law prevailed "women are persons in matters of pains and penalties, but are not persons in matters of rights and privileges". The celebrated cause, popularly known as the "Person's Case" was brought by five women in Alberta, Canada.
