August 12th, 2024
In 2002, San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors in California adopted a proclamation, conceived and written by Gary Freiberg, declaring August 12th as Vinyl Record Day in San Luis Obispo County. Since then, the observance has spread elsewhere and has turned into a grassroots movement to preserve the history and authenticity of music on vinyl. Music stores often take part, particularly those who archive or sell vinyl records.
