Jelly beans have been a sweet treat enjoyed since biblical times. Although the exact origins are unknown, most experts believe the jelly center is a descendant of a Mideastern confection known as Turkish Delight. Jelly beans were once sold by weight and taken home from candy shops in paper bags. By the 1930s they had been linked to Easter celebrations, but now can be purchased and enjoyed year-round.
