Brain Awareness Week is an important time for recognizing the amazing attributes of the human brain. The celebration unites the efforts of partner organizations worldwide. Activities include open days at neuroscience labs; exhibitions about the brain; lectures on brain-related topics; social media campaigns; displays at libraries and community centers; classroom workshops; and more. Brain Awareness Week was founded by the Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives (DABI) and the European Dana Alliance for the Brain (EDAB), and is coordinated by the Dana Foundation.
Did you know? The human brain uses 20% of the total oxygen and blood in a person's body. Also, when awake, the human brain produces enough electricity to power a small light bulb.
