Childhood obesity is a serious medical condition that affects children and adolescents. It occurs when a child is well above the normal weight for his or her age and height. More than 30 percent of American children are still overweight or obese. National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month sets to educate others about the continuing need to address childhood obesity, and find solutions to the problem. Healthy meals and abundant exercise are part of getting children to healthier weights.
