Squirrel Awareness Month is set aside to honor one of the friendliest and funniest forms of wildlife: squirrels. Squirrels are members of the family Sciuridae, a family that includes small or medium-size rodents. The squirrel family includes tree squirrels, ground squirrels, chipmunks, marmots, flying squirrels, and prairie dogs amongs other rodents. Squirrels are very trusting animals, and are of the very few wild animal species which will eat out of a person’s hand.
