Turkey: Hellsepont Swim

The Hellespont is a narrow channel between Asia and Europe. It marks a spot of one of the most significant open water swims in the world. in 1810 the English poet Lord Byron first swam the channel. It has been an annual event ever since on August 30, which also is Victory Day in Turkey. The swim is about four miles long.
