March 25th, 2021 In Great Britain and the North American colonies, March 25 began the new year up until 1751 with the adoption of the Gregorian calendar. After which, the new year was moved to January 1. The old new year is the basis behind April Fool's Day, when many people were considered foolish for still celebrating the arrival of the new year in March, long after it was moved to January.
