Many people — both men and women — are surprised to learn that heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women age 35 and older. It causes 1 in 3 deaths each year, which is approximately one woman every minute!
To further get the word out about the importance of regular health screenings and awareness of symptoms and lifestyle factors that can be indicative of cardiovascular problems to come, there are various days on the calendar in February to celebrate. National Women's Heart Wellness Day is another opportunity for women to take their health into their hands, including scheduling a physical with their doctors and learning more about the risk factors for heart disease and heart attack.
