Whiskey — a name derived from the Irish-language phrase for “water of life”. It is one of the most popular alcoholic drinks in the world. Scotch whiskey is mainly made from malted barley. To bear the name "Scotch" the beverage must be produced in Scotland. There are two main types of Scotch — single malt Scotch and single grain Scotch. The first is made only from water and malted barley at a single distillery. The second is produced at a single distillery but may contain other whole grains from malted or unmalted cereals. Scotch whiskey can be celebrated on National Scotch Day with a pour of this smoky-tasting beverage.
