Cashews perhaps do not get the attention they deserve, but they are a food of worth. Cashews have a slightly sweet flavor and they tend to melt in the mouth. While they are billed as "nuts," cashews actually are the seeds of the cashew apple. Cashew shells need to be removed before they can be eaten, which is why one will never find them sold that way. National Cashew Day is a prime opportunity to learn more about cashews and include them in favorite recipes.
