A day to celebrate and learn about the red panda. The red panda, or "firefox," is often referred to as the "lesser panda" in deference to the better-known giant panda. Red Pandas live in the temperate forests of the Himalayas (in parts of Nepal, China and Myanmar). Zoos throughout the world observe this day and work together to protect this solitary mammal. Annually, the third Saturday in September.
