The Green Bay Packers won the first NFL–AFL World Championship Game, defeating the Kansas City Chiefs, 35–10, at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Packers quarterback Bart Starr was named the game’s Most Valuable Player. This pro football’s title game later became known as the Super Bowl. Today, millions tune in to watch the Super Bowl each year, with thousands of others filling stadium seats.

The Super Bowl is the pinnacle moment in the football season. It is one of the most-watched sporting events of the entire year and the advertising opportunities for myriad businesses are endless. Papers can publish football-themed puzzles and trivia sponsored by area retailers, who then offer discount coupons for participating readers.
