Christmas Eve features many customs depending upon whom is celebrating. For children anxiously awaiting a bevy of gifts under the tree, Christmas Eve is the time when Santa Claus takes his sleigh filled with toys on a journey around the world. Religious individuals celebrate Christmas Eve with midnight mass and the commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ. Some families celebrate Christmas eve with lavish meals featuring "seven fishes," which tends to be an Italian-American custom. All in all, Christmas Eve is an exciting time for people around the world.
