CREATE: The Lennox Independent team created a “Pro Pick ’Em Football Contest,” following the National Football League schedule and inviting participants to make their picks each week using an online form via the newspaper’s website. Gift card prizes were awarded to the contestant with the highest winning percentage each week, as well as the grand-prize winner at the close of the season.
SELL: The publication promoted the contest on their Facebook and Twitter pages, linking directly to the online contest, for maximum reader engagement and sponsor exposure. Weekly winners were also announced on social media.
PROFIT: The contest successfully engaged local sponsors and readers, driving both online and social media traffic for the publication.
