You won’t find this holiday on the calendar, and the schools and banks won’t be closed, but for licorice lovers throughout the United States, April 12th marks an important holiday—National Licorice Day.  The biggest and best celebration in the country will be held at Licorice International in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Licorice International, which boasts more than 160 types of licorice from 14 countries, offers fun ideas for celebrating National Licorice Day.

What’s a Taste ‘n Tour?
Visitors to Licorice International’s 4400-square-foot facility in Lincoln’s historic Haymarket are treated to a personal tour, which includes a short history of licorice, a behind-the-scenes look at the packaging and shipping departments and lots of free samples.
So What’s the Big Deal About Licorice?
The history of licorice dates back more than 3,000 years. The Chinese used licorice for healing ulcers, sore throats and coughs, and well-known historical figures appreciated licorice for its health benefits. But licorice is most appreciated for its sweetness.
