International Beaver Day is a fine time to hike to a beaver pond, arrange a display of books about beavers in the school or public library, show a beaver video, and/or otherwise spread the word about nature's most prolific engineer. A beaver is a large semiaquatic broad-tailed rodent that is native to North America. It is well known for its habit of gnawing through tree trunks to fell the trees in order to feed on the bark and build dams.
