Children's Book Week is the annual celebration of children's books and reading. Established in 1919, it is the longest-running national literacy initiative in the country. The benefits of reading are numerous, including improving literacy, writing skills, vocabulary recognition. Plus, strong reading skills are the basis for learning in all other subjects. Throughout this week children can pick up favorite books or explore new authors and subject matter.
